Sports Medicine and General Orthopedic Surgeon

I have been in private orthopedic practice for 23 years. I am Board Certified in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.  I am an Orthopedic consultant for UTRGV Athletics. I am a former Clinical Assistant Professor for UTRGV School of Medicine. I completed fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery in Los Angeles, CA. I received a BA from UCLA and my medical degree from New York Medical College. I served as an orthopedic consultant for New Mexico State University Athletics and Las Cruces area high schools from 2004-2020. I also served as one of the traveling team physicians for the U.S. National Soccer Team from 2002-2013. I served as the Program Director for the Mountain View Orthopedic Residency Training program from 2015-2020. I served as the New Mexico delegate for American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM) from 2014-2020. I serve as a volunteer clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics for the University of New Mexico School of Medicine for Orthopedic clinical rotations in Las Cruces. I participated on the ABOS Standard setting committee for the specialty Sports Medicine examination 2017. I am currently a Peer Reviewer for The University of New Mexico Orthopedic Research Journal. I have been a Forensic Orthopedic Expert Witness for 7 years and I have been an IME provider for 9 years.

    • Dr. Romanelli served as an orthopedic consultant for NMSU Athletics and Las Cruces area high schools (2004-2020). 
    • He also served as a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics for the University of New Mexico School of Medicine’s orthopaedic clinical rotations. 
    • From, 2016-2020, Dr. Romanelli was the Program Director of the Mountain View Orthopaedic Residency in Las Cruces, NM.
